Bold statement in the SLP in their article on Jackson talking about Tarbuck's return.

"Robinson was feeling the heat with Charlton as they slid further out of play-off contention – and felt he would be pushed out the door when a takeover happened. But as it has turned out, the Australian consortium’s build to buy it off Roland Duchatelet has fallen apart – if it was ever truly a credible proposition."

Indeed. It's what we are all thinking. But Cawley seems comfortable in stating it almost as a matter of fact despite LdT continuing to say the Aussies are still in the frame.
There is at least one source close to the Aussies saying the same thing.
Does that mean he’ll sign up back on here again? Will he have to keep the same username?
Not him. I haven’t had any contact with @JamesSeed since he dropped off here.

My main worry with the continuous delay is that RD is going to have a fire sale in January. Fosu, Aribo and Grant are all young quality players and therefore they hold significant value - RD would take 500K for each of them if the deal is cash up front. Hope I am wrong but I think our season will fall apart after January solely down the the old git's greed.

People have been predicting fire sales with no proper for the last few transfer windows.
Yet he always sells every window so why will this one be no different? - Aribo and Grant at present are the two that will be having scouts down here more than anyone

Summer 2018 - Ezri Konsa | Josh Magennis | Harry Lennon
    January 2018 - Ricky Holmes
Summer 2017 - Jorge Teixeira | Cristian Ceballos | Tony Watt | Lee Novak
January 2017 - Morgan Fox | Ademola Lookman
    Summer 2016 - Jordan Cousins | Johann Gudmundsson | Nick Pope | Callum Harriott | Tarieq Holmes-Dennis
    January 2016 - No one
Summer 2015 - Joe Gomez | Rhoys Wiggins
    January 2015 - Michael Morrison
    Summer 2014 - Diego Poyet
January 2014 - Ben Alnwick | Yann Kermorgant | Dale Stephens

So other than 2016 when we were in danger of relegation from the Championship there hasnt been a window when we've not seen a player departing...
That's not a bad squad, OK a couple are a bit long in the tooth now or retired but, you'ld get out the Championship (the right way) with that.
    Just saying
Compare to those coming in and it'll show we've never had a settled squad. Summer 2016 was the closest to a fire sale, and that was due to relegation.

Just looking at January windows we've sold two that the manager didn't want (Morrison and Fox) and two who got offers they were couldn't turn down (Lookman and Holmes). Lookman was never going to stay for long in League 1, he's a much bigger prospect than Aribo or Grant (as good as they are in this league).

Same thing as Cawley or same thing as LdT?
That the Aussies have fallen apart. This isn’t particularly new, though.
I don't think that would surprise anyone. However, if that is the case, why no announcement that their bid has collapsed, or that they are looking elsewhere? I can see why RD would not be in a hurry to announce they are out of it but what's in it for the Aussies to continue to remain silent? Perhaps just a concern that they will lose some credibility in trying to put together a consortium to purchase another club? God only knows!
My guess is that key people involved still want to carry on and try to reassemble it.

But Charlton isn't good for the debt, he's losing money hand over fist, maybe loans and taxation can lower those loses, but the losses exist and he's never getting the money back.

Up to an extent, it is good for the debt. The club has tangible and intangible assets that will always find a buyer. And there is huge untapped potential

And it’s probably that debt which sets the asking price. As long as there are potential buyers at the asking price then the debt is good and the lender doesn’t have to make provisions or write any of the debt off. The bad news is that asking price will have to keep increasing with the debt. The good news is promotion this year underpins it. And promotion to the PL makes the debt insignificant.
There are no buyers at the current price though and we currently sit in NINTH in league one, any talk of making it to the Premiership is beyond ridiculous at this stage.

So no, the club is not good for the - increasing - debt.
But there are buyers, 5 potentially so we are told and even the EFL seem to have confirmed the Aussie interest and the only figure that seems to be out in the open is the one being bandied about as to how much RD wants. Whether a deal ever gets done is another matter but for the meantime the club has value.

Actually getting to the PL is clearly another matter but going up this season is looking a reasonable ask

Clubs always sell players in the windows. Madrid sold Ronaldo in the summer...
Did they spend it all on a training ground trench?

Is it not possible for the to trust get in touch with Muir and ask him directly what the position is with him/them??

Profile article of Muir from LinkedIn and posted on Addicks.org by Glynne Jones:

"He is also a director of AFL club Essendon and has been linked - erroneously, Muir claims- to a bid for lower league English soccer club Charlton Athletic"

That report throws everything we thought we knew off a cliff doesn’t it. Only at Charlton.

Maybe it means that he, personally, isn't part of the bidding consortium and his involvement has been to support the AFC and help them to find backers?

Even at 40mil that doesn't cover the debt though, does it?

Looks like Muir just threw himself under the bus😊

Even If that were the case then surely he'd still be 'linked to a bid' - which the article says Muir claims is 'erroneous'.....?

    Curious.....

Sadly this rather confirms that the Aussie consortium is a bit of shambles, when the only big name is publicly distancing himself from it.

At least we've got Addickted's bid still on the table, some small change and confectionery if I remember correctly.
Oh and Seth's potential lottery win.
No need to worry just yet.

Or just managed to dive out the way.

The journo is on Twitter, @JohnStensholt - if anyone wants to ask him why linking Muir to Charlton is erroneous.

or the NDA protects him from an embarrassing failure..

So, is it the Australian Consortium that is looking to buy Charlton or is it the Consortium of Australians ?
  • Options
Serial "winner" fails and then denies he was ever in the race.

Doubt he will ever be quoted as saying he had "No involvement" in a bid. Erroneous is a word that could mean anything in this context, i.e. I was involved but not in the way it has been reported.

What a waste of time the "Good Guys" were. Dodged a bullet IMHO if they couldn't even afford the purchase price, let alone fund operational losses.

The timing of this comes just after the rumour that the consortium has broken up over disagreement about the group's various roles. Now the bill has just arrived for over a mil, for nothing gained, and someone has to pay. Muir is off like a dirty shirt. Or is he? Or is this the final bit of pressure to crack RD? Maybe Muir's name was one of the bits missing off the EFL papers. Unlike the preceding news blackout Muir's denial of involvement is all too public, leaving poor ol' Roland sitting there all alone with his thumb up his butt. Time to negotiate, jonge.

For sale : two slightly-worn Charlton scarves Apply : S.Bartram
