I still can't get my head round this perverse notion of a football match being this wonderful occasion in which to socialise with your mates first, achieve success on the pitch second. All this crap about complexes and business parks as well. If he's that into to all this shit why can't he just go out and buy the latest Sim City and sit at home in front of a computer and fulfill his weirdo fantasies that way
The other thing is if it's such a social occasion and treasured time with the mates, then why doesn't he come down to the valley and share a hot chocolate with Sue Perks before a game? I'm sure the 6000 odd fans that remain will be very pleased to socialise with him and have a beer with him

What I don't understand is why the FA are ok with this. All that guff they spout after England are knocked out of yet another cup competition regarding the importance of grassroots football, and competitive English football - yet they're happy to stand by and watch a Belgian megalomaniac drain the competitive, sporting lifeblood out of a once proud English club. It makes no sense.
This occurred to me whilst reading the Lookman thread. Someone (@PaddyP17 I think?) posted an excellent 7 minute compilation of Ademola and his talent.
Despite being gutted at the prospect of losing Ade, I couldn't help but question how healthy it was for his development to remain at Charlton. Poorly qualified training staff, no continuity of management and playing styles, and a team that does not attempt to be competitive - after all, the competition is not the priority of the ownership. Yet looking at the quality that young Lookman possesses at the age of 19, it's kids like him which should be nurtured if the England team of tomorrow is to have any success. For the FA not to look at the effect of ownership on player development is, at best, myopic.
Meanwhile, what's the EFL doing about teams that are patently uncompetitive - and in our case, a team where the owner even states that competition is not the priority? It's utterly bizarre that they're prepared to fine the likes of Luton (and Millwall?) over the teams they put out in the Checkatrade trophy, on the basis of not fielding a competitive side (despite Luton's success!), yet quite clearly our owner can execute an entire business model which does not prioritise competition.. and remain entirely untouched.
The priorities of the game are completely wrong in this country.
So Peter Luts - a Belgian dance remixer/producer/DJ - claims that Roland booked him for a set at STTV after a match. Very quickly Roland informs Luts that he's doing his job wrong because people are not dancing. By the second album/set a member of staff rudely asks Luts to stop immediately as Roland is clearly fed up with the lack of dancing.

It's truly shocking. This is his underlying ethos I feel with all this bollocks. He's just an odd man who has a lot of money. I have always known blokes that go to football alone because they may not have had a family member take them when they were young or just don't have a group of mates. What about these men (and women) who go alone to games? Are they there to socialise or to see their team win?

It doesn't matter if your never achieve your aims - you have to always want to do better. To have aspiration. That is if you are a Sunday league side or a Premiership side. Football is a competetive sport as well as a social activity. If you don't understand that, you are an idiot. Oh, it makes sense now!
