And then, the reality sets in as they get turned over 4-0 at home by Chelsea U21s, and they all scratch their heads why they didn't see any of the extra prize money...
And, as others have said, it's the thin end of the wedge, it continues, and the Premier League clubs end up getting even more TV money, and an extra game at Wembley...

So completely depends on (1) How good the U21s are (2) If they are up for it (3) If the opposition are up for it.
Bet there are some League One / Two Centre-Backs who'd love to show those kids a tackle or two
This could set a dangerous settlement for when they introduce a 4th division. It's been assumed that clubs will step up from non league to fill the extra places but what if it's PL 2nd elevens? Also, keep hearing of more clubs that voted against, allegedly, so how come it got passed?

It will get what it deserves - gates in the hundreds. I hope the 'financial compensation that the clubs accepted in exchange for making it even more irrelevant is worth it.
More nonsense has been announced for this. In the group stages it's 3 points for a win and 1 each for a draw. But in drawn games a penalty shoot out will be held with a bonus point for the winner

So 2 points for a penalty win? Seems a bit pointless to me. What's wrong with giving a win, like always.
Is the rule that teams have to play a certain number (6?) of first team regulars? Or does the inclusion of Premier League B teams mean that every team can treat it as an u21 tournament?
So EFL must have a minimum of 5-First Team players in their squad whilst the U21s must have at least 6-U21s
Each Group will have at least one U21 team / one League One team / one League Two team

So the Premier League clubs, with their huge squads of players, can treat it as an opportunity for kids and those returning from injury to have a casual kick around, but the Football League clubs, whose resources are much scarcer, will be forced to field half of their first team, even if they've got something trivial like a key promotion/relegation clash the following weekend.
Mind you, it's a great opportunity for us to witness some of the potential stars of tomorrow playing for the big clubs, before they get fed up with the lack of opportunities and being constantly loaned and end up signing for a League 1 or 2 club anyway. Great work Football League.
Desperate for players rotting in youth teams to get a game against professionals because their clubs can't be bothered to let them grow with experience in the proper way. Most clubs would loan these players out, i really do not understand how this has been sold so a vast majority think this is a good idea.
best way is to boycott it or better still make it a 'CARD' match and get a good attendance but get the game abandoned. Would get good exposure on Sky as all they are concerned with is the PL in all it's forms.
