I've just come to a bit of an interesting observation.
Jacko is the complete antithesis of everything Duchatelet: both his vision, and the experience he has welcomed in. Jacko isn't a valuable young player on small wages who can be sold on for a profit at the end of a semi-decent season. Jacko led a successful team that stormed League One last time, a team that not only had a good rapport with the fans - but also appeared to have a genuine affinity and friendship with each other.
Yet, despite the fact that Jacko is the complete opposite of everything Duchatelet seems to signify.. he's still the first player to be wheeled out when Katrien is under pressure. There's something about this which seems so very poetic - the one man who signifies everything that contrasts with the regime, is the one who has to come and placate the fans. If that doesn't demonstrate how flawed the Duchatelet model is then I don't know what will.
