Another Manager scratched off our short list - Dean Smith joins Brentford

Comments

  • Shame for the Saddlers as it looked like they had a winning formula with DS at the helm.
Brentford are just as daft as us, sack a proper manager and replace him with a foreign stats-focused manager.
At least they have seen sense, even if they are taking a chance with a bit of a rookie.

Our next manager will probably be some Belgian car salesman that once played wallball for Luxembourg.

Be interesting to see how Walsall recover from here... Gillingham and the others could be pleased though

Would have him down as doing better at a club similar to Charlton (No chance of coming here) where more emphasis is put on the Youth coming through rather than Brentford who don't seem to have any players coming through their ranks

    Or worse.

Our next 'head coach' is Karel Fraeye. No one else. We have the shortest short list possible.
  • Can anyone think of anybody who combines being right for us as a manager, with being stupid enough to work for these two ? No, don't tell them your name Pike !
  • I feel for Walsall, and it looks to me a change of heart by Brentford after reflecting on the Warbo shenanigans.
Then again maybe Dean Smith (who I admire) is going to buy into the approach that Warbo rejected.
  • You have to see the funny side of our club since its new ownership keeping each manager for less than 5 months on average, actually appointing an interim manager. Surely, every manager appointed to our club is an interim manager – the last 4 were anyway! It would be even funnier if the interim manager lasts longer than the permanent managers. Don’t they know how stupid they look? They don’t do they?

Carsley was doing a very good job there at the Bees .. despite his protestations that he didn't want the job on a permanent basis, I suspect that Carsley was told that whatever he achieved, the job would not be his ..Smith has worked wonders at Walsall, a club crushed between the 'might' of WBA, Wolves, Villa and Brum City .. expect to see them gradually slip down the table, especially now that the likes of Coventry and Bradford have woken up and the Blades must surely improve
  • We have a shortlist?

VERY short .. a bilingual one .. written in French and Flemish/Dutch

The chances of Roland Duchatelet employing a coach called Smith is the same as finding a clean Russian athlete.

And then after him it will be the Irish/South African bloke at St Trinians
  • Then the Alcorcoran bloke...........
  • what list is that then
  • Then Luzon, Then Fraeye,Then the Irish/South African bloke.

However, in saying that, wasnt there some bloke who took over SL after Luzon who had a very good record but was booted out by 2sheds for some obscure reason (maybe he said 'no'). Vukanovic or something?

    Vukomanovic.
  • I don't know this guy - did any expert on here mention him as a target previously ?

Didn't he publicly say that he wouldn't be a puppet for our Belgian Overlord?

If we're recruiting from St Trinians, I'd rather have Gemma Arterton, although she'd never get the job as she knows too much about the club!

Bearing in mind last time, Katrien interviewed about 8 people in 48 hours.

I expect she must have interviewed at least 100 candidates in the last month.

Obviously, we're gonna get a real top guy.
  • Does anyone actually think a new manager will make any difference? We could have the best young manager in the country, but if he's being told who to buy and how to play, what chance have we got? Ownership is where the change needs to come, not the football manager job.
