Palace to get major US investment

Sigh...

Crystal Palace are set for American investment after Steve Parish agreed a deal with Joshua Harris and his partner David Blitzer that he feels will retain the soul of the club, writes Giuseppe Muro.

Parish is on the verge of selling a sizeable shareholding in Palace and the deal, which is agreed in principle but has yet to be finalised, could be completed by Christmas.

It will see current chairman Parish continue to run the club and would give Palace the significant funds needed to reach the next level.

Harris, who heads a group of investors from the United States, wants Palace to keep their south London roots and has impressed Parish with his vision for the club. While Arsenal and Liverpool are both run by their owners from America, Parish and Harris feel that it is best for the local partner to take the lead. Harris, owner of NBA franchise the Philadelphia 76ers and NHL side the New Jersey Devils, likes what Parish is doing and is keen for him to continue in his role.

  • Sickening isn't it
  • yep and Harris was being written off as a window shopping time waster ..... maybe not
  • Never mind.
    We've got our academy!
  • As if they werent already light years ahead of us :( Thats what getting to and staying in the Prem does for you
  • The 76'ers are doing brilliantly this season 0-8 so far
  • They peaked at the right time, new TV deal at the end of the season as well which will widen the gap further. Good luck to them.

  • Jealous ................YEAH YOU BET. Palace are very lucky to have Steve Parish, a "proper Palace fan" and when I have heard and watched him, he always comes over really well and seems like a nice fella. If only????.................it was us!
  • Trying to stay positive but with both The Cherries and now this lot getting American investment this last week it's tough not to mentally take a stroll down the 'coulda, shoulda, woulda' street.

We must have collectively broken a shed load of mirrors somewhere along the line :-(
  • A lot of Palace's investment will be going in the ground, which as we know well, is a dump. I suspect that they are over estimating the number of people in South London who want to watch Palace as opposed to Premier League football, I thought we made the same mistake with all those plans for a 40k ground.
  • When Harris was initially linked with us , I remember reading that he doesn't like spending much either! His other sporting teams have had a very similar strictness budget wise to us!
  • Yep Murrey that could have been you,if you hadn't made such a Rick of the whole situation.

Yeah well, we've got the Belgiums.

You can't say that, apparently it's racist.

  • But didn't he first become linked with them a year or so ago, after us and Reading? What took so long, if so?

It look him that long to find the ground, he's been stuck in traffic for a year!

You may be closer to the truth than you know ;-)
  • It's a well known fact that Belgian beer is MILES better than the rat piss the wanky yankies pass off as beer!

I'm happy with things as they are thank you.
  • All by coming 6th and scraping into the play-offs on the last day of the season! Parish has done well though in his appointment of managers. We swapped A.C for Dowie whereas they had Pulis and Pardew.

maybe due dilligence ,negotiating price, percentage, roles of Parish
