Food and drink shambles

Don't know how many of you are aware of this because I suppose you wouldn't unless it affected you, but today's food and drink voucher swap was an absolute disaster. As a season ticket holder I would have had no problem switching seats to accommodate the Bournemouth fans, so there was no point in the club offering people food vouchers as a 'thank you' for swapping. It meant that I didn't bother eating anything since breakfast at about 7am and told my 83 year old father-in-law to do the same. Was a surprise then when I turned up at 11.45, heard that the promised vouchers were only available until 12.15, and then when I got up to the West Stand found that the food had all run out. Very badly organised, very badly handled, under staffed and under resourced. Surely if you were moving 1,000 people and giving them each a £15 food voucher you'd have the food available to cater for them. But no, there seemed to be even less than a normal match day.
The problem isn't that the thing wasn't planned properly. It's that there is no need to promise people something if you have no intention of delivering.
Being moved would have caused a few grumbles but sitting through a game with an empty stomach after being promised a feast leaves a sour taste in the mouth. Very pissed off with the organisation of the whole thing. Apparently they also ran out of food in the Bournemouth end as well.

Had disaster written all over it from the start. You should've been given £15 off of your ST for next season.

Either that or a voucher for a free ticket next season for those who haven't renewed/don't plan to.

I queued up to get my vouchers before the game for three of us. Me, my old man and my son. Apparently they needed our names to tick them off. No problem as we've all got the same surname.

Except some idiot had printed the list in alphabetical first name order, so it took them 5 mins to find three names as they furiously scrambled around looking for the various bits of paper.

    Top notch organisation.

Then there's no fucking food left by the time you get there.

I went around to the Covered End ticket office for 10(this was the time advertised they were open for collection of vouchers), was told they were not opening till 10.30, that became 10.45!

I was then directed to the Covered End entrance to Crossbars to receive.

When I received my pulled pork burger I realised why I do not buy food in a football ground. It was tepid but at least I did not pay £4.50 for it!

What the f*** is it all about that you could not use the ticket after kick-off?

    Shambles.

Picked up my vouchers at 11:30 went into the West Upper and they did not have a single food item left at 11:50 ! Performance in the food arena, was as poor as that on the pitch.

Sorry Charlton, you fecked it up all over today !

You told an 83 year old man not to eat before as you maybe a free pasty????

My thoughts exactly. You can afford a season ticket in the West stand, yet skip breakfast for a free pig roll?

Got to ground at 11:30, waited in queue for 10 mins for vouchers. Organised chaos as someone else said with alphabet lists being swapped between staff to and fro.
Got vouchers and realised we had 30 mins to spend £30.
Queue for outlet was horrendous at 11:50 so joined the lesser queue for pint only (voucher valid at any kiosk).
Refused a pint for voucher at 12:00 and told to join other queue.
    Farce.

You think I would learn, another lava pie, another fortnight drinking iced water.

Catering at The Valley has really gone downhill this year.

Tepid food is all too common (except when they overheat the pies).

Was really impressed by the simplicity of food and drink served in the away end at Birmingham last week.

I would hope that the caterers invest in updating the equipment in all the bars. At present the upper west has to use food heated up in the lower west and then placed in the warming cabinets.

Waited 15 minutes for the staff to pour 2 pints and a lemonade in Bartrams today. No one in there that were serving were any good

    On a positive note,
we went into Crossbars pre match, great table, great view and great beer.
We then went back into Crossbars after the game and had the same experience.
With a bit of live music and Bob Bolder being escorted in by some fella in a Charlton tracksuit.

Looking forward to spending my pre and post match cash in there. Good move by the club

Despite what happened today , catering is 100 times better than is was last season.

Price of the meagre amount of chips they provide is a total joke

if Bournemouth paid CAFC's expenses for moving our fans and there was not enough food then someone has made profit out of this at the expense of our supporters - KM out

I gave up queuing at halftime behind the East Stand. The staff there even make Roger Johnson look pacey. And there were no alternatives. What happened to the variety of food outlets that were available earlier in the season?

What's happened to all the food stalls outside and inside the east stand gates too? Not been there for months.

The interesting food outlet has gone, the two ale/cider kiosks weren't there today, it's as if the catering company have given up for the season

Can they at least give some decent chips and a bag full!!! Disgrace!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Perhaps they had a cunning plan to give out the food and drink vouchers and
deliberately not have enough supplies and staff laid on, hoping
not many people will complain, sounds a bit like Rolands logic to me!

I questioned the lack of food in the upper west and was told by senior cafc officials that the food hadn't run out and would be replenished at half time. Absolute rubbish they gave out vouchers that they had no intention of honouring.

Free beer in the North Upper at the end of half time !

Thought all the food outlets were open and available @Robbo on the wing, and we could spend our vouchers wherever we wanted, not just in one bit of under staffed pie-selling pulled pork corner of west stand. Cynical move by the club - was nothing to do with affording or not affording. Was about club promising and not delivering, because they don't put a and b together, they just make it up as they go along.
Hope that's not true @cafcnutter that they had no intention to begin with - think they had some but they just fucked up as always. Left hand doesn't talk to right hand and vice versa and nobody seems to know what's going on these days and it's not all RD & KM fault. Jimenez and company left behind a bit of a mess in franchising everything out.
