Belgium Trip

Me and 4 mates are planning a potential trip to Belgium for a couple days during the World Cup, staying in Brussels. Anyone know anything about where to drink etc and I've seen they average £1.27 a pint, surely not true?

Thanks

Cantillon brewery trip worth a visit. Brussels not the best place to go, Bruges, Ghent and Leuven better bets.

Can't remember. But I can't recall it being much different to here.

You might get a beer for £1.27, but it won't be a pint (0.568 litres)

More likely 0.25 or 0.33 litres, a third of which will be foam.

If it is local beer, then it should at least be good beer

Brussels is a tourist trap and expect European Parlement members with ludacrous wages to come as a customer. Go to Antwerp, only 50km away and most people speak English. Lots of good pubs around the city hall. Expect between 2 and 2.2 € for a 25cl (stella)beer. Between 3 € and 3.5 € for a Trappist or other special beer. In front of the well known "chips" shop (without fish in Belgium) called "Number 1" you'll find a pub with an enormous amount of special beers, including the limited and sought after oak aged trappist beer. Also some with 12, 14 even 20 degrees alcohol (micro breweries). Have fun ...

    Knowing Roland
I reckon the pubs themselves would be outstanding facilities.

The beer will be Shyte though.

I've heard about the Roland Duchatelet pubs; you order a pint and the barmaid checks with the owner which tap to use - and then she gets replaced mid pint.
