Football League awards

Strange that the awards come out with over a month left in the season.

Burnley striker Danny Ings collected the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Year trophy at the Football League Awards on Sunday night.
The 21-year-old has bagged an impressive 25 goals for Burnley so far this season, with 20 of those being scored in the Championship.
Ings fought off stiff competition from Leicester's Danny Drinkwater and Leeds United captain Ross McCormack as the forward looks to help secure automatic promotion to the Premier League..
Brentford starlet Adam Forshaw was honoured with the League One Player of the Year award at the event, which was hosted by Sky Sports News presenter Hayley McQueen.
The 22-year-old midfielder has become a crucial part of the west London club's promotion push and he tweeted: 'Absolutely made up to have won league 1 player of the year. Thanks for all your support!'
The League Two Player of the Year trophy went to Chesterfield's summer signing Gary Roberts, who beat Rochdale's Scott Hogan and Sam Winnall of Scunthorpe to the award.

Comments

  • It was for the year 2013 not for the season 13/14 Hence results announced now.
  • I think it was for the calendar year rather than the football season.
  • I think it was for the calendar year rather than the football season.

Really dont understand this... Granted the Ballon D'Or should be for a calendar year because not all countries are like 2013/2014 yet cover a full year (like USA / Norway etc...) but you cant tell me that Danny Ings deserves his award because of his performances in the second half of last season cos he barely played
  • "Football League Family Club of the Year - Middlesbrough"

We used to clean up this sort of award, what the hell has happened? ROLAND OUT!!
  • Capital One Supporter of the Year - Phil Beeton who is due to attend his 2,000th Leeds game

Will unfortunately miss game number 2,001 because he has to collect the award
