Restaurant recommendations for Moorgate/Liverpool st Area please.

Have booked a Friend into a hotel in Moorgate and will be meeting up tomorrow evening for drinks and then going for a meal.

Thinking of popping over to brick lane for a curry, would like to know if anyone has any good recommendations for this area.

If there any other good restaurants nearby to Moorgate doesn't have to be a curry then I would be interested in your opinions.

Thanks.

  • South Place hotel in liverpool st has a really nice bar/restaurant on its ground floor and a nice fish restaurant called Angler on its rooftop.
  • Duck & Waffle in the Heron Tower near Liverpool St is open 24 hours and is pretty special.

L'Abat Jour is a few hundred yards up from Moorgate & a cracking Italian restaurant. Worth getting a table right at the back, which gets you views over The Honorary Artillery Company grounds.

  • Loads of decent restaurants in Spitalfields. John Torode's place is good I'm told.
  • There's a lot of overpriced tat in the area. Brick lane is a bit hit and miss, I'd probably go for this place http://www.forarestaurants.co.uk/. Other good options would be Hawksmoor or Galvin Chapelle (if price is not an issue). Afore mentioned Duck and Waffle would be a good choice if you're after something a bit different.

If you're going up the heron tower it's gotta be sushi samba surely!
  • Thanks for the recommendations, much appreciated, will probably give the sushi a swerve as my guest is Japanese.

Foraresturants looks good will these places be open on a bank holiday?
  • Dont go to Brick Lane for a curry, go to Whitechapel instead. Tayyabs is the most famous but there are several good ones.
  • Tayyabs quality food but noisy, and too busy possibly.
You haven't said much Badger as to objectives of the evening (friend, 'friend', or business?). Ask them what they fancy? Or else I suggest you at least choose a place you'll be comfortable in, then that's 50% of the party happy. Haven't been there myself but the Water Poet, Spitalfields may tick enough boxes.
  • Try Gaucho's ...great food, drink and service
  • Brick lane can be decent... Dawaat is alright

:-) I'm not a sushi fan AC, so I hadn't tried it. Does look spectacular & I know they do a range of dishes, so might have to give it a try.
  • If your thinking of a curry go a little bit further east than Brick Lane go towards the Tower of London. Go to Cafe Spice Namaste, the food is brilliant.
