I'll say it again, if a supporter was caught using racist language, they would be banned, double standards.

Not outside the ground and via text message in something seemingly completely unrelated to football.
    Have been before.

That makes it alright then, keep your racist comments relatively private and nobody will care, so much so, that the former employers of the person you racially abused (in private) will invite you into the directors box.

Of course PE is wrong to have text what he did but Rufus should be the judge of the hurt intended and I'm sure they have had words about it.

I should be banned for some of the texts/comments I have sent/said (in private) and I bet 99% of punters on here have made the odd off the cuff racist/homophobic comment "in private" in the past .....

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone .....

I wouldn't wanna be ostracised from Charlton because of them but I also wouldn't expect to be involved in a senior position in a racial equality campaign and I believe he has left his FA /Uefa or whatever positions he held there , not sure what he's involved in now
I know he was doing kids academys some years back and was extremely helpful in getting a mates son trials etc when Charlton dumped him ......

Ron Atkinson was very helpful in quite a few pkayers careers, white and black, but look what happened to him! I think I'd be right in saying that you don't make an extremely nice living from race relations? PE does, so if he is using these terms in private texts or whatever, of course he should be band from any club he's associated with and television!

I only wanted to know who is who in the directors box.

i don't think ron atkinson is banned from any grounds

Only white people can be racist, according to traditional socialist dogma, so what's the problem?

Just saw Paul Elliot sat in the window of All Bar One Covent Garden. On his lonesome and on his blower. Didn't know whether to walk in and beg him to save the club from these shady owners, or have a row with him for deigning to abuse da Ruf.

I agree - not saying Elliot wasn't wrong - just don't like the he used it, why can't we mentality - misses the point and infuriates me. When black people use the word it means something different to them - it is still inappropriate and nasty and they shouldn't use it though.

If a racist uses a racist term it is different from a non racist using it. I doubt Elliot is a racist very much. A non racist who campaigns against racism should set a better example though.

You're talking rubbish pal, stop trying to vindicate ANY use of the word.

Jim Davidson made a homophobic slur on national tv but he's still allowed in the directors box.

He was wrong but get over it.

About 15,000 of us made homophobic slurs against Brighton at The Valley earlier this season apparently.

Had to think twice before I went along again.

There's probably still folk who'd like to see him in some sort of position at Charlton though!

    Can he play upfront?

For some reason that I can't quite put my finger on, I never took to Elliott. Perhaps it is as someone said on here recently, he appears as the kind of cove who thinks the world owes him a living simply because he is the 'wonderful Paul Elliott'. The racism bandwagon must appeal to some as a nice one to jump on for a potentially lucrative and long lasting career.
I hope that Rufus wins this case and further exposes Elliott as the charlatan I suspect him to be
