Was talking to a palace fan and listened to the usual "our academy is brilliant..." cobblers, and then he said, well, name a prem XI who started at CAFC. Easy. Elliott, parker, defoe.........
Didn't give a team, just kept on about Moses, Bostock (sp ?),etc and said If they kept their players they could be in the Prem. So I said, yeah, but I can name a whole team of Premiership players who started at CAFC........
A few others who played for us in the PL would include Steve Brown and Shaun Newton. Others who played for others in the PL, Carl Leaburn for Wimbledon, Darren Pitcher for Palace?, Minto and Barness for Chelsea
Palace do have a decent team as well, but ours is better. They seem to produce a lot of pacey wingers

disagree mate, we still deserve credit for Jenkinson and Shelvey as they came through our club and played International youth football whilst with us. Be disrespectful to say they are only where they are now because of Arsenal and Liverpool.
Sorry but it hasn't exactly been years and years before Shelvey and Jenkinson played first team football for their premiership clubs. I don't think we can count McGinty as one of ours as I think he left at about 13-14, but both Jenkinson and Shelvey played a number of times for us before moving on, Jenkinson in particular was playing in the Champions League 6 months later
Spoke to a Palace supporting mate about this in the summer...he was waffling on about how wonderful their academy was...my question was name a single Palace youth player who plays for a TOP premiership team (admitedly b4 Moses went to Chelsea), he mentioned Ben Watson at Wigan...I laughed at the thought they were a top side. He mentioned Bostock at Spurs...I laughed that he thought Bostock ever played...he got very excited and mentioned Ashley Cole at Chelsea as their best academy player as he was on loan at Palace for a while....I mentioned Shelvey, Jenkinson & McGinty.
