After today's performance I have realised , maybe I underestimated the team and powell , I feel a lot more positive after nearly beating top opposition , any other views ?
I have to agree. That performance feels me with confidence (as much as it can following online commentary). I'm extra excited now for the rest of the season. We have to be careful of the opposite effect happening now though, we can't start to expect a top six finish just because we've had a good performance on the first day of the season. That's not to say don't bask in it however, I'm delighted with our result today (and gutted at the same time), and believe we can have a decent season.
Seeing as they are up there in the top 4 or 5 teams I feel we can make a push for the playoffs, if wevhad been more decisive it could have been a better score
yes, I feared a bit of a nightmare.....against the blues. Was not there , but the comments seemed to think we could have won this. Taking BWP and Jacko off, because of Tuesday's game....... could have cost us 2 points. Mind you I would have done so myself in the circumstances, just goes to show that the subs bench is important in this league.....
I had a dream two nights ago that we would lose 8-1 (it felt so real) so I was nervous about today, but now I am really gutted at only getting a draw. Football, its a funny old game indeed!
I know its only one played and that usually all the teams are up for it in the first game, but I think we'll do ok this season. I can't imagine a side that pisses the third division with 101 points, wouldn't be good enough to compete in the championship
If we put that 11 on the pitch 46 times this season, more times than not we will avoid defeat.
It's when the inevitable injuries and suspensions kick in that we need to worry. The bench already looks painfully thin on the striking front.
Didn't think we'd get anything today so a good point and something to build on. Just hope we can find the means to bring in that extra couple of players that we are going to need.
My concern is we are a different side at home than we are away. We need to play in the same fashion against Leicester.
I'm less concerned about home games this year.
Last year so many teams came and put 11 men behind the ball it was ridiculous. For some reason when that happened, we played with no tempo and struggled to break down the likes of Rochdale and Bury.
This year teams will come and have a go. That'll allow us to play in the same style that we do away from home.

I wouldn't say that confidence has been restored but we've just been reminded of how good this team actually is and why we pissed the league last season.
Sorry, but anyone whose confidence had gone before a ball was kick, or has then had it restored after just one game really needs to get some perspective or I seriously fear for their blood pressure/heart.
No one has lack confidence in the first 11, it's just a few us think the opportunity to use the promotion to chase a play off place has been wasted by not improving the squad

Really? Where have you been these past few months? Not on here, that's for sure. (Which, incidentally, is no bad thing!)
I'm pleased we didn't get tonked today , but more than held our own, i just knew they were going to bring Ziggy on , and he was going to give us grief , if that was a league 1 fixture , we'd have won it , can't switch off for the 90 minutes , as Huddersfield found to their cost on Friday evening.
Thought this team would do okay at this level and today was a good start.
My worry is the lack of options from the bench if we need a goal, hopefully we can find some investment from somewhere and get a couple of players in then we could be looking at a very good season.
Another striker who can get 10-15 goals on top of the 15 i think BWP will get and 10 for Yann and we could really challenge for the top 6 it sounds, lets just hope a certain player comes on loan who i think has been discussed on here recently.

What Clem said , that 11 is good enough for a solid seasn but if either striker got injured I wouldn't want a regular run of Haynes cos imo he isn't gonna do it at this level regularly enough
Well, I think his pace will prove useful to us -Don't get me wrong- I'd like a couple more in but to compliment the squad but I think our starting 11 is promotion material and thought it before yesterday. We have the best two full backs in the league -Morro is class personified and Cort compliments those with his aerial ability and strength. Midfield- We have a real discovery in Pritchard -whilst everybody now knows he is good, I think some don't see how good he is going to get - Hollands and Stephens are excellent players. JJ - nothing needs to be said and in Kermogant and BWP, we have a front two who will give most teams problems. Can't understand why some were so pessimistic!!!

In part I think you have answered your own question. You stopped eulogising at the first eleven. I don't think we have too many behind that who you can genuinely make a case for regular first team selection. Very big squad now but no real quality below first 13/14 ?
But there is time to bring in one or two. I'm happy defensively - midfielder and possibly a striker that's all. Absolutely nothing to panic about and I find it a bit strange in all honesty that some seem to be doing that when we are very competetive.

All day I would've taken a point, but during the game I think we really did outplay them. There were a few city fans that were saying it as they left!
If that really was one of the more challenging fixtures then I'm fairly confident about this year; we shouldn't have any worries and may even do well!
Pleased Sharon didn't score.

I was out and about and celebrating a win ! How late did they score ?
Quote Think someone said 15secs from time :-(
Today showed that with 100 percent commitment and bottle, you can go up against the likes of Birmingham at their place and get something.
The fans were the 12th man today too, and it made it feel like a home match atmosphere which must have helped the players.
The goal
Great team full stop. I also disagree on back up. They may not win as a complete team, but one or two joining the first team would fit in just fine.
To make that last step up though we do need another top striker.
If we do not sign one then mid table - fine by me. Onwards and upwards!
