I saw Graeme Smith outside their team hotel this morning signing autographs, before boarding the team bus (the hotel is next to work)
I said to him "make sure you get out before you reach 20, e.g. by driving at a wide one, and there'll be a £5 and a signed photo of Danny Hollands for you".
looking forward to going tomorrow! Little shower at paddington just now, so did they take early lunch? I can see the roof of Lords from my work window!
I'm always happy to see Kallis getting out. Excellent player and all that, but he's always been willing to claim catches when they've clearly been grounded and he's failed to walk when he knows he's hit the ball. He deserves the odd bad decision against him.
Great start lads. Saffers have had a lot of luck in this series so far, about time it turned in our favour. Well done Finn.
Could not agree more, how much luck has the opener Petersen had? His 180 in the last Test was so lucky it was outrageous, he must have played and missed 20 odd times.
About time England had some luck go their way - the look on Kallis' face was priceless!
I hope that rain delays a bit of play as I haven't seen England attack for ages. Last time was in oz. we only ever end up seeing batting and thats not as much fun.
haha, I did think that when I was sulking over olympic tickets. It's not like I haven't seen other amazing things - I've been very lucky! (couldn't go to cafc parachute day though!)
still a bit expensive for me. rather try and get in for £15/£20 maybe a tenner on some occasions. espicially as i know i'll be drinking a fair bit plus travel, i got to keep the ticket price cheap. most fifth days have been pretty good, have been ending around 3, 4 maybe, then off to the pub.
Agree cafcfan1990 - SA bat all the way down, but 250... even with a couple of rookie batsmen and no figjam we should be capable of putting on a lead. Note choice of wording - I've been watching England too long!
I really do not understand why the ECB do not pick batsmen who have been scoring loads of runs in the county championship. The last time they did was with Trott and he is arguably our best bat. I think they should have picked Nick Compton of Somerset above Bairstow who has not coped well on the international stage.

The same reason Mark Ramprakash never did himself justice on the international stage. For the most part its a mental thing, he has to keep on performing (have 2-3 good seasons) before the ECB will take a chance on him
262-7 close of play. I was hoping we'd shoot them out for 250 the way we started. However, it looks a good batting wicket & they should have scored at least 400 (still might).
If we can get them out for close to 300 and score 400 ourselves we'll obviously be in a good position.
However, with 2 rookie batsmen I'm not confident, but am hopeful, we'll do that.
They went off a couple of overs early at 18.30, due to bad light. The light was poor & then one of the floodlights (which had been on for a few overs) went out. They stayed on until Finn hit Philander (46no) with a bouncer. Steyn was about 23no (nearly all streaky).
I'm going tomorrow, so I'll leave the updates to you guys.
Just feel the England batsmen are a bit cosy and the fact they only play four bowlers makes me wonder how much confidence there really is the batting order.People are edgy and they are only 262-7. Also wondering why Broad is still in the team he is looking a bit off colour, that attack doesnt need to carry anyone with the likes of Bresnan and Onions not in the starting XI.
Feel Ramprakash was a touch unlucky, every time he got a go it seemed to be against a terrifying West Indies pace attack with their tails up when some of the England order got hamstring twinges !!

Looking good. little rain in the air though, should be ok.
Dreadful decision
Kallis C Prior B Finn 3 (After review & the decision looked incorrect :-)
