I really do object to this..... he has been given number 39, same as Ephraim - my stats can't deal with that. two players with the same number - it's disgraceful ;-)
Charlton Athletic manager Chris Powell has moved quickly to bridge the gap in his forward line by signing Dany N’Guessan on loan from Millwall until the end of the season.
The versatile attacker, who can play as a central striker, a wide forward or in an advanced midfield position, signed on at The Valley this morning. His arrival follows the departure of Leon Clarke, who signed for Crawley Town on loan on Friday.
N’Guessan, who will wear squad number 39, will go straight into the Addicks’ squad for the visit of Yeovil Town tomorrow evening.
The 24-year-old is a previous team-mate of Powell during his time at Leicester City and spent time at Southampton during their promotion-winning campaign in League One last season.
Having initially joined Millwall on loan at the start of August, he completed a permanent switch at the end of the month and has made 19 appearances for the first team since then.
He has played just four matches in 2012, including scoring in the Lions’ 3-2 victory at Southampton in the FA Cup, but has been deemed surplus to requirements by manager Kenny Jackett.
It had been largely expected that Powell would enter the loan market for a forward this week following Danny Haynes’ frustrating recurring hamstring complaint and the surprising decision to allow Clarke, who was swapped for Paul Benson in January, to leave.
The Charlton boss also has the option of recalling Paul Hayes later this week after 28 days of his loan at Wycombe Wanderers.
Hayes, a popular figure with supporters in SE7, has scored four goals in five appearances since moving on loan to Adams Park during which time the strugglers have taken 10 points from a possible 15.
Given his surplus of central midfield players, combined with Yann Kermorgant’s aerial prowess, Powell also has the tools at his disposal to switch to a 4-5-1 or 4-3-3 variation in the coming weeks should he feel the need.
On a slightly different note this signing, along with the two Reading strikers tearing up League one at the moment gives the impression that the step up next season is going to be much more significant than I had allowed myself to believe
Easy signing. Powell just shouted over the fence at Sparrow's Lane & he couldn't get here quick enough. Powell knows him, which is better than signing someone who you've hardly seen & don't know. Powell got it right with Morrison & Kermy, so I'm hopeful. Covered End Junior says he's decent & he's usually right.
Why couldn't Kermorgant get into a struggling Leicester team either.
Christ, give the bloke a chance, he's an option up front and on the left, cover in two places we're short. Did a job for Nigel Atkins and Southampton last year
Hope the fans give the guy a chance - my fear is he'll come on as a sub for 15 minutes, misplace a couple of passes and then get booed endlessly by some of our more knowledgeable supporters.
who was the last Millwall player we signed directly?
John Sullivan
Didn't he come in on loan and then subsequently join us as a free agent?
the fee was some David Bowie LP's Pool games, gold chains, wosnames And at a push Some Trevor Francis track-suites From a mush in Shepherds Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush
I have just read the report on the OS about him and hope he is more of a winger than a striker becuase 1 league goal in 19 starts hardly gets sets the heart racing does it.
My Millwall mate said that this guy is very poor. Missed an open goal from 2 yeards out this season and how he makes a living as a footballer is beyond him.
However I will give him the chance and hopes he turns out to be a decent player.
More french influence ............he is a good player and fell down pecking order due to new arraivals and loan players -- judge him by his performances - every one knows when new signings come in or loans they will get played ahead of you especially if the team are not performing ..I think he is skillful and a and will give us something.

Chill; in SCP we trust I said he had a plan when he let Clarke go now let's wait and see before we start over analysing and prejudging. He's only cover at the momemt unless he stakes a claim for a place.

always the way one of my mates siad same thing ...yet they rate Jordan stewart and Josh wright

He is not really a winger. I certainly wouldn't play him there as he isn't exactly disciplined in any defensive duties and can't really tackle. He is a striker that perhaps can do a job on the wing as an attacking threat.
He has made some impressions from the wing, putting in a few crosses etc but he ain't all that. Most Millwall are at a loss to explain why we made the signing permanent.

Thanks for the input but I think SCP saw a bit more of him in his time at Leicester than you have at the toolbox so I am going to give the guy the benefit of any doubt.
The "big, strong and shite" comment cracked me up!
He's only going to be around for nine games so not going to get too excited either way.
Sorry HandG but I thought the idea of getting loan players in was to freshen the squad up for the final push and give some of out "tired" players a rest.
I would like to think any loan players would be quality enough to maybe consider buying permantly due to the impact they have/would made/make.
I sincerly hope I am wrong and Dany makes a mark in the remaining 9 games but I get the feeling this won't be the case looking at his record.
I haven't been this underwhelmed by a signing since we signed Kermogant.
Well I see you nicked my comment so I assume that was in answer to me. Lets be honest Kermy wins every header and knocks it into space but thats about it. He goals scored and assist record speaks for itself. I would much rather see Hayes up there with BWP than Kermy and there is no way Kermy is a Championship forward.

Yann proved me wrong. Hopefully Dany will as well. Not holding my breath though.

nice hat-trick though.

Thank you Sparrows
That said there is the Leicester connection with SCP which has proved fruitful with Morro and Yann. Things come in threes hopefully....

Keeping my fingers crossed.
Edit: Great minds Len both timed in at 1.23pm!
It will be interesting to see what Sparrows Lane Lion makes of this.
I can see this going the same way as Euell, Clarke & Haynes i.e. no impact what so ever
