Thanks for spotting this LargeAddick; agree with Henry - without wanting to sound partonising, it's just the sort of gesture that makes you proud of being a supporter.
Though not a large amount by any stretch, I'm sure it makes a difference . This is the kind of thing that makes us lefty, middle-class tossers and that's something to be proud of.
Gesture's are just that, but they say far more about conduct and class, than many other social markers. Regardless of how recent news stories have brought bad press to our club, it's good deeds like these that make a club respected, not the size of the owners bank balance.
If Carlsberg made football clubs, ours would be the model they'd use. FACT.
does fly in the face a bit when supporters groups get asked by the club to raise similar sums for things that the club supposedly can't afford.
Disagree mate, we are in a position of privilege with our fanbase who are generous enough and big enough (and happy enough it would seem) to help out when we can. I love the fact we as fans our asked to contribute and it makes me feel we are part of the club in a way most modern Man utd/ Chelsea fans will never know.
A tin pot club like Margate probably dont have that luxury with most down there "supporting" big premiership clubs and so that cash will probably pay a weeks wages for all the squad and staff whereas we'd take that in jackpot tickets in an afternoon.
Plus it's good PR and nice to see in the modern "sod the underdogs and show me the money" era that a club like ours is still willing to make a gesture like this.

Not necessarily the best team, but the best club!

Well done Charlton. It makes you feel that there is some generosity and consideration around.
It is better to give............
So, definately the best team as well.
Sadly, because of work, I couldn't get down there for the match.
Took him for a match on tuesday
He was signing on by wednesday
And thursday, friday saturday
Now he only plays on sunday...................... yeah, yeah, I'm getting my coat..................
What are the First team manager Rick Everitt's motives for this and did Steve Kavanagh deliver the cheque himself.

A great gesture by the club, obviously means a lot to Margate and just reinforces what makes us proud and sets us apart.
I'm welling up !

I make you so right on your last sentence.
Well done Charlton.

Palarse or the spanners?
RCT nails it for me. It was effectively a reserve game for us. Supaclive told me who the real owners are and they can afford a few yen so no big deal.
