  • Did he think he got enough chances, because I always thought he linked up well with JJ, and was he annoyed at often being taken off at half time?
  • Legend!

Question for Matt , maybe a bit unfair .... Does Matt prefer Charlton or Palace?
  • well bearing in my mind what show he is on, we best hope he gives the right answer......
  • How did it feel coming on as a sub only to be substituted yourself later?
  • Dawn French, would ya?
  • Nice work JT......
  • I once saw Matt Svensson having a fry-up after training in the caff round the corner from Sparrow's Lane. Dunno if it's still there.
  • probably not there now, would have though it he would have eaten it all
  • Some quotes here!

He was reported as being very critical of Curbs and his man management when he left. Where was his happiest time in English football? And who, from a distance, does he regard appears to have those man-management skills he regarded so lacking in English football? I'll start him off Nigel Adkins, and if he doesn't know maybe highlight skills Swedish coaches have.
  • Did he enjoy headbutting Warren Barton as much as I did
  • Did he enjoy headbutting Warren Barton as much as I did

You head butted Warren Barton as well ? ;)
  • Keep em coming.
  • Hasn't everybody - very enjoyable indeed- a reccomended butt.
  • How frustrating was it not to score a goal since May 2001 until he left?

    :D
  • What was his user name on netaddicks
  • Proper cult hero was big Mathias. Kind of bit crap a times but also capable of some very good play and had a big heart. One of thos players that I always felt was trying to do the right thing when he was on the bal, just didn't always have the skills to put it into action.

Did he realise he was wearing a shirt with his name spelt incorrectly on the back or did someone have to point it out to him?
  • Ask him why he bad-mouthed Curbs and why he celebrated so ecstatically scoring against us for Norwich
  • For some strange reason, in one match I watched Matt running back across the penalty area to line up a for a free kick, or corner or something, can't even remember who we were playing. As he passed a defender he punched him in the kidneys, and carried on unobserved by any official, and probably most of the crowd. Was that something he did as a matter of course, or was it a one off, and if so does he remember it, and can he tell us what provoked it?
  • The headbutt on Barton was similar. Think a goal kick was being taken and he just gave him a sly nut on the back of Barton
  • What's it like having Sven Goran Eriksson as a dad? .....Svens son? It's how the Swede's get their surnames.

Saw him do something similar within 30 seconds of coming on as a sub against Liverpool at the Valley. Cant remember who it was, I think maybe Hyppia. Made me laugh, he didn't even try to be subtle about it.
  • Well, I think Hans and Randy have answered that one then... Back to the drawing board.
  • He also picked up Shola ameobi by the armpit after he smashed him through the advertising hoardings in front of me once.
Lot of man love for Sven. My favourite player at the time even though he didn't play much.
  • Question is, which one of the Charlton Live team is most likely to cop one to the solarplexes as he enters the studio?
  • Does he remember when he & Martin Pringle spoke to me at Charing Cross, on the way to Highbury ? :-)
Is he still friends with Martin Pringle ?
  • Ask him who was better at finishing him or Pringle. I bet it's close.

Maybe ask him who was the worse finisher.
  • thing about pringle is, i always hoped hed be like the crisps, ones he popped in a goal he wouldnt stop..., sadly it never materialised.
  • That's what I was getting at :) both were dreadful imo. I did like Pringle though.
  • Agreed Nicholas. I remember thinking we had found some sort of world class genius after Pringle scored that one where he rang from the halfway line against Wimbledon. We hadn't.

    Derby away i think mate.

Did all the Scandanavian players stick together when he was at the club or was there a rivalry?

None of us, he is on the phone.....

No Derby away was a different one. He did one at home to wimbledon too on a Monday night when we announced the signing of John Barnes.

The Derby away one was quality - I remember Mark Mansfield on Millenium Radio when he get in behind shouting all of a sudden "PRINGLE'S IN ON GOAL" and then immediately calming himself down "but he's got a long way to go though..." and then erupting again "AND HE'S SCORED!!!!"
  • Used to sit near the front of the West Stand and I recall Pringle always looked good warming up (well, that's what the wife used to say!).

Back to Svensson, always like the guy - Don't remember him starting many games - I was always hoping Curbs would put him on the pitch, mainly to see which opposition player he nutted first.

Me too, am I imagining it or did a cry of 'screw loose' go up in the covered when he went steaming in or came on as sub?
  • Met the team in a hotel in Boden, Sweden, on the tour of 2001(?). He was the only player who had any time for the fans who had made the trip out there, so he'll always be a hero in my book.

Regarding his winner against us at Carrow Road, bear in mind this gave Norwich a lifeline similar to the Danny Mills winner at Villa so cut him some slack on that one.
  • I once made him a cup of coffee and he didn't head butt me or punch me in the kidneys :-)
Mind you it was Gold Blend ;-)
  • Not sure if it's the sort of thing you'd want to mention to Mr. Svensson but co-incidently I had a meeting with someone today who took on his house after he left Charlton. It was a nice place apparently but shortly after moving in he was surprised to receive an unpaid gas bill for around six thousand pounds. Maybe no-one had ever paid for gas at the place, or maybe the move north from Croydon to the wilds of Kent meant the tough Swede had to keep the heating on the whole time.

Now that question I would like to hear !!
  • He is looking doubtful for tonight, so we may have to try for next Sunday
  • Panic over, he's been in contact and will be on live tonight, along with "Superfan" Sam Kimber and the Chartlon Perfect 10'ish.

Promises to be a bit Lionel, not Blair - Messi!
  • loved him .
  • what did Matt have to say?
  • about his gas bill?
