Poor. Top of the league by a distance. To get under 14,000 is a poor show.

  • 3 1-0s in a row, absolutely freezing cold, only 100 or so away fans, and tbf quite a boring game.. oh and D'Urso in charge.. I'd say for a League One match on a Tuesday ain't too shabby..
  • 270 Bury fans

Was probably less than 12,000 there when you deduct ST holders who didnt come

    What game did you watch?

    Yeah, rubbish.

Maybe you shouldn't go anymore - it's clearly such a chore.
  • Under 10k at Smallwall and 17k for the Nigel's biggest game of the season.

I would guess very few comps + re-arranged game v unattractive opposition on a freezing cold night = our hard core support so not too disappointed
  • I wasn't too impressed with that attendance either, nearly 21,000 for Sheff U, take their 3k off, 18000. so where were the missing 5000 or so tonight?? at home as it was bit cold!!! Bet they will be there on a Spring day in May clapping their "cold" hands at home to Hartlepool!!!!!!!!!
  • A lot of comps and a lot of pickers and choosers with kids missing tonight (not to mention people who can't do a runner from work by half 6)... can't see much wrong with that, disappointing maybe but only because it shows how reliant we are on getting the more transient elements of our support here every week.
  • I was working. Sorry.

    Predictable as ever.

  • I didn't fancy it, but my eldest convinced
    me to go.

I KNEW it was gonna be like tonight, nothing ever changes at Charlton! Crap crowd, Crap game.....but what a goal!

PS: Wtf was the comedy act at half time with the scores?

    Doris Stokes had more idea.

    Yes, you are, sweetie.

I was laughing at @BDL trying to work his iPad. that was proper comedy with the scores.
  • @BDL leave the ONE AIM alone mate it's feckin cringeworthy
  • Ipad ???

God, @BDL is such a Gadget Geek.....
  • i'm hoping it is a personal one and the club don't provide it. it used to be fine with a clipboard and bits of paper!
  • tragic, but even with 5,000 more would have still been as quiet as a graveyard
  • Not amazing but really not that bad, if you keep in mind the opposition and the necessity of the win then our attendance reflects favourably with our two south london rivals that were also at home tonight

Agree with this. Had a feeling there was a 'lets get this over and done with' vibe about it.
  • thought the crowd were pretty good for the first 10 - 20 minutes, as the team were, but as the team went quiet so did the crowd.

As for the attendance, just cause not every body treats going to matches with some sort of religious fervor, does not mean that there is anything wrong with them.
  • To get over 13K on a Tuedsay night in January against Bury in the 3rd tier is a very good gate when looked in perspective at what we have got in the past.
  • poor thread... nuff said!
  • Like many, I was a bit disappointed with the attendance but have to take a lot into consideration. Work, Many take their kids on a saturday and can't do so on a school night.

I'm sure we'll sell out for Rochdale on Saturday though................................
  • Who cares what the attendance was.
I'm happy for those who didn't go, It was a poor performance.
    Move on.

This! Well apart from sell out On sat ;-)

  • Well, that bit was tongue in cheek :-)
  • Not surprised by the gate. When it was rearranged we knew there was little we could do with Bury on a Tuesday night in January. It's a third division match, after all.

I think we have been spoilt lately in terms of the gates, but we should be back to 16k plus on Saturday. Unfortunately there is a real problem getting people out to evening games; especially at this time of year.

No point in criticising those not there.

    Hence the wink! ;-)
  • I was there spiritually, and a lot warmer! ; )
  • so on a night we go ten points clear at the top this is the moan , that we're ONLY getting nearly 14,000 for a third division match?

    I despair I really do

A free hot drink for every ticket bought!
  • I would be surprised if the attendance given was anywhere near the number in the ground. I know it's the tickets sold ( issued), however the figure given would mean that almost every other seat would be empty. I could see a lot more empty seats than ones that were occupied.
  • I'm more concerned with the non atmosphere that our fans create

    Felt like a non event

One day we'll lift the team rather than them having to give us a lift

There again 10 points clear, no real reason to need to get behind the team

270 bury is a decent following with the smallness of their home attendances
  • Look at Blackpool's and Millwall's attendance last night.
  • Did not look like 270 Bury there at all, more like half that!

    You've got me sussed.
  • It was a poor game, on a freezing Tuesday evening so the attendance doesn't surprise me. Before our goal even I was wishing I was at home.... but glad I saw Stephens smash that home!

Would going back to 20.00 kick off's help?

I know its only 15 mins but to some coming from work that could make all the difference.

Wish you had told me that before I booked my 14 for the MK dons game airman......
Still have to say, CAFC have always done an A1 job on my 'events' there.
Mind you, I did ask for a 'discount'. Even though I qualify by 24 hours as an 'old git',
none was given?. Just got me down as a 'git' then eh Airman?

    This .....

  • £18-25 for a walk up ticket for Bury and Rochdale --not exactly going to have the non season ticket fans racing to the ground ..

The MK Dons ticket are £10 and Stevenage £5 --prices don not make sense --the other way round would attract another 2000 at the Rochdale game.

A non season ticket holder to watch Bury and Rochdale in the same week £36 -- lot of money

I see your point oohaah but you gotta take your hat to off to all fans that turn out on a cold midweek night to watch a div 3 game against not exactly exciting opposition....... And to be honest the amount pro footballers get paid nowadays I see it as their job to lift us with their performances.

We never play well when there is an atmosphere.

  • some of you must be bloody rich or just single cos i cant afford to buy 4 tickets twice for 2 matches in the same week!!! and add travel food drinks etc on top of that adds up to over £250 in one week so dont judge people on there comitment as lots probally just cant afford it?
  • you not heard of a credit card or remortgage floyd

    only joking
  • Let's be honest, it was always likely to be a lowish gate for a rearranged game v unglamorous opponents on a freezing school night. The other two S. London games last night surely show it in a better light.

A lot of damage has been done over a prolonged period by the attitude of the likes of Marcus Bent, but thankfully our home crowds are well on the way back. Still room for improvemet away but even that's improving. Think that just might be covered on another thread...
  • did get a remortgage and hit the credit cards 2 buy 4 season tickets that sumhow i end up paying for even though my sons have good jobs! and they didnt even offer any petrol money last night ! though one did buy hot chockies !
  • Yeah lets ban everyone who wasnt there for life, how dare they look forward to promotion in May when some of them have only been there for 75% of the games, shameful.

In fact lets have them spaded so they cant sporn equally apathetic support...I bet Millwall and Palace wouldnt get low gates on a freezing January midweek game against Bury when they are at home on a saturday as well.....oh wait a minute...I went but am fortunate to be my own boss, afford it and live reasonably close enough to go so was lucky, I do agree it would be nice that those of us do go made a bit more noise on nights like this but not sure what the answer is

Yes, it is expensive, but equally you don't get the level of response if you attach offers to the least attractive games. Bury would have been OK on Jan 7th when it was due to be played; you wouldn't have been able to pull in that many extra by discounting it last night.

As for Rochdale, there is an offer out there for this match but it is a targeted one aimed at a specific group of lapsed STs, rather than all supporters. Plus we have invited extra schools on Saturday.

MK Dons is at half term, hence there is more chance of the price offer working in midweek. But we cannot attach offers to every game in this division in fairness to season ticket holders. Some games - whether Sheff United at one end of the scale or Bury at the other - will have to sink or swim on their own merits.
  • Price was not right for a cold midweek game with another following in a few days. I think the atmosphere would have been better if the play was a little less pedestrian.
