Glad we got a Charlton fan singing.

  • When I first saw it, I thought it was that character (Rebecca?) that used to post on here with her nutter of a husband.

thank god it isn't, those tracks from the windscreens were toe curling
  • Did anyone ever find out how old she was? It's only that Mr Windscreen never mentioned it.
  • How tall is she?........

    They're divorced now

At that time, she said she was 26

    ;o)
  • her singing made me go cross eyed
  • I think her brother posted on here about this a couple of weeks ago.
  • Sooooo.... Would Ya?
  • Jerusalem always hits the spot for me (based on a poem by Blake about building a socialist utopia -which is lost on many who hear it) and really looking forward to hearing her version of Valley Floyd Road.
  • What is it with Charlton and Opera........
Each to his own, but why celebrate another countries culture!......
Britten, Tippett, and Walton.......sorry not for me?

That's correct. Miss Stanyon's brother did post a thread about her upcoming appearance at the Valley.

Very pretty but as she's our sister, besides, her dad might be on here. ;-)

I thought you liked the blues Ken? ;o)

  • I had the pleasure of working on a couple of classical music magazines, one across the road from Covent Garden and  never went?....... Greenie
Still, we still have that dreadful rendition of zep's Kashmir, by that girl group.......Personally speaking  I would rather have squeeze down there.......
Never realised  that Charlton fan's were so 'cultured'. Macca's just had his ballet premiered, bit of jiggling at half time Greenie.......perhaps he could do a rewrite of 'Mull' a'la  Floyd road, set to ballet for you?
  • Wow. Just did a rehearsal. Powerful voice. Lovely sitting in living room listening.

At least opera gets the atmosphere going - thinking back to Nessun Dorma

Or would you prefer some local wideboy spitting out some gangsta rap grime - just to encourage us to start stabbing each other
  • And in answer to the "would ya" - she's currently about 15 yards to my right and it's safe to say "I would"
  • To those of you digging out Rebecca (Mrs Windscreen), maybe you ought to know that she suffers from autism (albeit at the lower  end scale of the affliction)...she's a sweet natured girl trying to make the best of her unfortunate circumstances.

She's a pretty good singer and as a few on here can tell you (following a St Georges day dinner in Bromley  organised by Bernie Wickham a couple of years back) she definately put's on a good show. She could walk into any West End musical...OK not as one of the lead parts I'll admit but certainly as a chorus singer.

She sings mostly standard ballads and theatrical musical material, so she's obviously not going to appeal to some folk by the very nature of her style.

Some people can be unbelievably cruel!

  • Whose digging her out SoundAs?
  • I thought Victoria Stanyon was excellent. Victoria sounded great, and she pitched her vignette perfectly to suit the occasion, a real fan who did herself and the club proud. Thank you Victoria.
  • Hear hear Seth!
  • I posted a negative comment about Opera Sound, but it was about the genre of music. Nothing to do with the lady who sang very well.
She sang my old school song Jerusalem, and the Covered end anthem by Sir  Macca  and did us proud.
I think the Nessum Dorma for a world cup game is fine for  that stage/occassion.
Gangsta rap grime? Swisdom....... well not me personally, but as I said each to his own,I have never liked popular music as such as I am sure my sad musical tastes have bored others on the musical threads  that we have on here.......  I just questioned 'Opera' as such. That aside, as I have already stated it went down very well with the crowd, but the music was hardly Opera was it, but I am sure my point, as badly made will seem ungracious by some?
  • Ken....I was reffering to Rebecca.....a girl who used to post on this board.

I think one or two might be under the impression I'm talking about the singer today...Victoria.....that's not who I'm talking about.

  • It doesn't sound like anyone is digging her out; quite the opposite.  It seems that people enjoyed her performance today and are supportive of her generally, so this must just be a misunderstanding somewhere along the way...

The confusion is SoundaAs£ is talking about Mrs windscreen, whereas the remaining part of the thread is about the opera singer.
  • Yes bigS....go back and read the whole thread...you'll see there are two different singers being discussed.

  • Oh boy..I don't know whether to laugh or cry.................................................bangs head on desk in frustration!!!

If I banged my head on my desk I'd definitely be crying. But then I am a wuss.

  • I thought she was brilliant.

Her rendition of Valley Floyd Road brought tears to my eyes.

    Wonderful stuff.

Would rather have her on the bench than Hughes.

    Thank you Victoria...
  • Can we book her again - she was bl**dy brilliant!
  • How can anybody not enjoy that?

  • I totally agree with most comments. She was excellent and the "Valley Floyd Rd" rendition brought a lump to my throat.
  • Agree with comments above. She was very good, 'Valley Floyd Road' was outstanding.

There are a couple of videos on youtube for anyone that wants to watch/listen again.

  • She actually sings it at a speed that works as well, unlike the guys on speed at the back of the J Block...
