Stag Do Ideas

edited June 2011 in Not Sports Related
Have been asked to organise a pal's stag do ahead of his late Sept wedding.
Doesnt want a weekend away and doesnt want to go abroad.  Has to be relatively local.  Go Karting is out.

So looking for ideas to make it a bit memorable and different.
Anyone got any bright ideas other than the usual getting hammered, lap dancing shenaligans?

(and yes, I did tell him dont do it lol)

  • I've done paintballing and that was a laugh.
  • I thought of that.
I've done that before too and it was really good fun.  Definitely a possible.
  • You could do capture the flag and the winning side gets a lapdance every time ;0)
  • in town now, they have office paintball, bloody awsome fun and no risk of getting wet, then off to sports cafe for pool tables and beer, into soho for a chinease banquet then end the night in the comedy store. most comedy clubs now accomoadte stag do's and do special deals just as long as you pre book and dont turn up mob handed on the door.

  • Clay pigeon shooting.
  • A cheap option is to have a football match - I did before mine and going on towards the usual stag do things in the evening but I think it set things up nicely and helped people who didn't know each other build comradary. Also you can get cheap t-shirts from internet and iron kits for your printer to make cheap and humourous kits with nicknames, pictures etc... on them.
  • racing at Sandown, easy train from Waterloo and a great day out.

You sound like a right bundle of laughs.

Why would people need to get to know each other? Billy no mates.

  • Quite the opposite- You might have lots of mates (different circles of friends -e.g. School friends & Colleagues), some of whom don't know each other.

  • dont know if there is anywhere local but my mate went on a stag do near Bristol where they hired a massive country house which had 5 a side pitches in garden / bungy ropes / bar fly / inflatable sumo etc etc  - basically loads of lads games.  Also did all the food and booze for the weekend.  Sounded good to me.
  • Why would people need to get to know each other? Billy no mates.

Because his old school mates might not know his footie mates or his work mates.
  • Went to Edinburgh for a stag in march and saw about 40 guys in a group all dressed up in Tennis gear - rackets, shorts, headbands, sweatbands etc

Also saw a few guys dressed in these - great fun

Failing that get a dwarf and handcuff him to the groom for the weekend

  • If Go-Karting is out how about F1-style simulators, pretty much akin to what real F1 drivers use to practice in?  I've been to Pure Tech Racing down near Gatwick before and it's very good and you can get 10 people racing each other.

There is a very good paintballing centre just around the corner from me too, and it's pretty good idea for a stag.  I'd definitely reccomend an evening at the Comedy Store too.
  • whiskey tasting in soho?
    Indoor golf in the city?
    Day time casino?
    tour of wembley?
king pin lanes in Bloomsbury or bowling in All Star Lanes in Brick Lane then a curry?

or out of london but not too far away:
    Go Ape in Suffolk
what about that indoor ski place in milton keynes?
  • Why all the action, try all day drinking. My mate did the monopoly board, missing off utilities and stations (unless you're brave). I did the research by tube, only one I think Coventry Street Didn,t have a pub so Ifound one overlooking. Even Vine Street which is tiny, we had a beer in a Pizza joint. However on the day we had a driver and a Luton van, an absolute must, tube would take too long. A half in the dumps and pints elsewhere. The groom did pints and lasted the course admirably for a small guy.

You obviously have never been on a stag!
  • Strippers
  • Cant imagine us all dressed in morph suits.  Do they come in XXXXXXL size? lol.  Its bad enough seeing my in my cycling lycra let alone anything like that.

Similar to Muttley's idea, a few years back one of my work colleagues organised a fancy dress cricket match as part of his stag do.  Superheros vs Cowboys & Indians.  Now that was a sight to be seen.

Like Adam's idea of making a day of it and trying to fit a bundle of stuff in.
A couple of the lads have suggested similar but fitting in a Pedibus tour of London?  Anyone done that?

  • How about a night in knitting and a pizza?

  • Clay pigeon shooting.
always mixes well with that other Stag Do essential: alcohol   ;o)
  • Strippers
  • *Midget Strippers
  • I have seen the Pedibus and must admit its something i really really want to do.  It looks fecking funny.  I was having lunch in Roast the other Saturday (as one does) and it went past a few times - looks a right laugh.

tho just reading up on it... i see you only get it for an hour.  I thought you could have it for the afternoon.

Did it in Amsterdam Johnboy, but although it started as a good idea turned into a bit of a pain.

Did 'human table football'  and that was excellent.
They come to you and theres one company in north London

Mind you we spent an hour playing 'beer table tennis' which may explain why the footie was a laugh.

  • Get in some top of the range brasses and a job lot of viagra.

    He'll thank you for it.
  • well i'm a rock climber so gotta throw that into the ring. we took a group of mates climbing in the peak district for a mates stag weekend with nights out at country pubs. it was a really great lads bonding session. lots of man love, etc.

for the novice you could book a session at your local indoor climbing wall (don't want to kill off the groom). an instructor will teach you all the basic rope work. it shouldnt cost much more than £10-15 each and you can usually climb for 3-4 hours. it is safe no matter how scared you get due to being on the end of a rope. great sport to finish off in the pub and give each other stick. it really isnt that hard, if anyone's been you will know it's not about physique and you can climb as high as you like. most indoor walls are easy enough for school kids (i take my 9 year old).

    just a thought!!
