One of the most alarming things with this is that it means Bishop's Stortford have been put into the Conference North. As an example, it would be a shorter drive to France, Belgium, Holland or Luxembourg than to Workington. Kings Lynn ended up liquidated a couple of years ago partly thanks to being dumped in the Conference North given the increased costs and lower gates, but at least they are officially in a border zone... how on earth can a town neighbouring London Stansted be in the Conference North?!
  • Agreed isaw, ridiculous.
  • Blimey. Do they (BS) have to take it?  They may well better off dropping down a level than doing all that travel.  There's a world of difference for a semi pro footballer asking to leave work an hour or two early in the afternoon to get somewhere round the M25 and keep asking for half days to get up north.

There was talk earlier that Bishop's Stortford were going to resign though as unfair as it currently stands it's still going to snowball the problem. Short of plucking another team out of the Northern Premier who didn't "deserve" to win promotion where do you go from there? Do Chelmsford City get the call as I reckon they are probably just about next in line... also BS are hardly a substantial-sized non-league club, they barely stayed in the South last year. It's bad enough Histon have been put back in there from the Conference! Evidently there is a dearth of Northern or even Midlands non-league clubs below the BSP who could comfortably do either/or, hence the "south" is very "south" as it were, as you can see from BS being the most Northern!

The official stance is BS are going to appeal to the FA.
  • Would make sense for them to swap leagues with Western Super Mare in the South as there's lots of western teams in the "North" league looking at the table.

  • Not a bad shout there Rodders get yourself down the FA! Problem is in a situation like this it's a bit like who gets the first round in when you've walked in a swanky place, noone is going to make the first move!

Weston have one of the smallest budgets in the league and would be far better off somewhere in the Southern League than in the BSN.

If they got moved the result would be a resignation from BSS.

    Double Post

  • Far too logical mate. They'll end up deducting Bishop Stortford 20points when their minibus fails to get them up to a Tuesday night game in Cumbria through the snow.

  • Amazing to think that they were in League 1 in 2003-04

Just shows you what piling in invisible money does further down the ladder when there are going to be no corporate favours or sheikhs to be called in at the 11th hour.

A result of Doc Martens going out of fashion and manufacturing being moved to the far east.
  • Adrian Durham raised a good point, Luton voted to expel Rushden fromt he league but still winge about what happend to them.
  • Has anyone said Diamonds Aren't Forever?  If not, can I?
  • No-one Rushed den to say so yes you can have that one.
