  • I'm so out of touch with music these days but I'll do my best:

Song: The Cave - Mumford and Sons (is that a 2010 song, album is 2009 but think it was a single this year?), alternatively Kiss Your Lips - Allo Darlin', or anything off The Suburbs by Arcade Fire.

Album: The Suburbs - Arcade Fire

Live: Only went to 2 gigs this year, but I'll go for The Eels at the Birmingham O2 which I enjoyed marginally more than Arcade Fire at the LG in Birmingham (NEC) but both were great.
  • Song: Spanish Sahara - Foals

Album: Tourist History - Two Door Cinema Club

Gig: Dan le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip @ Koko. Probably done upwards of 30 gigs this year and that was probably the best.
  • Song: Kele - Tenderoni

Boogica... if not the best live band this country has ever produced. I have given up trying to sell this one but take much pleasure in the fact that I and others like you know this! Seen them so many times and they still make my life better!

Anyway, best gig for me for sure is James at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver...600 or so people turned up in this real cool and small venue. James are still bloody amazing...their new stuff well worth a listen. The gig was brilliant, people dancing on stage, Tim Booth walking around in the audiance.

I do like "the cave" by Mumford

Get back to you on the album front but "morning after the night before" by James is a really good cd.

    Definitely this for me
    Album: probably Arcade Fire
Gig: Supergrass farewell at Brixton, was probably more sentimental than anything else although the format they used was good for it.
  • Song - Learning to Ride by Caitlin Rose
    Album - Vol.2 by She & Him
Gig - Dave Rawlings Machine at The Troxy
  • Song - Avi Buffalo - What's In It For?
Album - Janelle Monae - The Archandriod

  • Song - Limit to your Love - James Blake
Gig - Efterklang - Taylor Johns in Coventry
Album - Have one on Me - Joanna Newsom
  • Plan B's album is by far the best album of the year. Impossible to believe the same foul-mouthed heap of vulgarity (a genuine work of genius) that was his first album was the made by the same beatifully soulful voice of the 2nd LP

Green Day at Wembley were very good although they are not the same Green Day I saw set fire to a drum kit about 12 years ago
