Cider tax scrapped

The Labour party has been forced to sacrifice three taxes in order to pass Budget laws before parliament is dissolved next week.

A proposed tax on holiday lets, a levy on land lines and the controversial cider duty hike will all be shelved, although the party has been quick to stress that all will be reinstated if Labour is re-elected in the 6 May general election.
