Anyone know what the deal with Borrowdale is? I liked the guy alot. He had a good attitude and motivated the other players. Felt like a natural Charlton player.

Huge wages? Huge price tag? Surely we've got to convert some of these loan signings?

Borrowdale will depend on what happens with Youga - is he fit, will he stay here, and Basey, will he sign a new contract. Then of course it depends on what happens at QPR, Warnock might decide he wants to keep Borrowdale.

Selfish in not thinking about what the Club who pay his wages needed or sensible for not putting a long term career at risk for a few games? Who's to say?
Thomas Mhyre (a much underrated Addick IMO) lost years of his career because - following an injury in a Norway game Sunderland and specifically Cotterill and Wilkinson pressurised him to play for them - against the Norway doctor's orders (he'd been sent back from the internationals and missed the second of two games). So it's not always completely cut and dried. Kelly's under contract for a year, if he gets himself fit then he'll be more of an asset next season than if he'd aggrivated his injury.

Guess it depends on how much risk there was of aggrevating his injury, or putting undue strain on other parts of his body, by playing. I think in Burton's case a Hernia is unlikely to get much worse or see you injure other parts of your body and if it did get worse it wouldn't be career threatening. If there was a danger KY might do his cruciate or something as a result of his injury you can understand him wanting to nurse himself back properly.

Don't supose all fans would see it that way but I think many might do similar if put in Kelly's shoes. Of course it's all conjecture, he might have been fine and just being lazy.

Youga's probably got the hump because his mate Benzema told him he was joining a top premier league side!

The board didn't rate Borrowdale I dont think.

As for Borrowdale, i think if we can get him for a nominal fee then he'd be our number one choice. if not then there are a couple of freebies that we might also be interested in; jay mceverly, stephen hunt (ex notts co). thats of course if youga goes - which i think he probably will.

Our board, or QPR's? I thought he did a fine job. His run in the side coincided with our best defensive performances of the season.

I don't think he's out of contract at QPR so can't see us signing him. Hopefully Basey signs a new contract, Youga makes a full recovery and Jackson (if signed) can act as emergency left back.

Where has the 'Youga might have to retire' talk come from? I guess this thread is called "Rumours Rumours" so someone may have made it up :)

[cite]Posted By: Stebo[/cite]Parky knows Jackson from his time at colchester doesn't he? so that and the fact he wants to come back to london must make us favourites to sign him.

Notts County wanting a fee for him wouldn't help. Depends how desperate they are to cut their wage bill.

I think Basey will sign a new contract if he's offered one. By all means I'd like to see him get a new contract, but we don't have the money to offer it unless he can play next season.

That might be my fault. I should make it clear I have zero inside information, I'm just going on my own pessimistic gut feeling that a seemingly minor injury has turned into something very niggly and long lasting. It stinks a bit of people like Rowett, Holmes and Gibbs (not that Gibbs actually retired and Holme's problems first started after that attempted Murder at Molineux)

I'd rather we kept Basey and played him than signed Borrowdale - didn't think Borrowdale was any great shakes myself, solid enough for an emergency loan but not worth signing permanently.

Don't believe this about Youga not being willing to play. He declared himself fit to play against Millwall despite having not played for months. Always seems pretty level-headed to me from the interviews with him that I've read.

On his blog, Youga always gave the impression that he was in love with the game, and all he wanted to do was play.
If that still stands, he's probably spent the past half season banging his head against the wall in frustration.

I've always thought he was the sort of player that would try to play through an injury if he could - unless stopped by the club.
Anyway, last heard of in France after Easter getting specialist treatment.

Unless he's off to design T-shirts with Lloyd Sam.

Depends what his wage is, they let Schmeichel go on a free.

Getting Jacko in would be excellent if he was played left wing. If we can keep Youga and he can get fit the left side of our team would be excellent with those two.

I was talking about Basey's recovery. How is he doing now, anyone heard?

It does. Schmeichel was on stupid money and a ridiculous contract to boot. In the 2011/12 season his agreed wages alone would've been enough to cover a competitive Championship squad. I doubt Jackson is on anything like that, so it depends how desperate they really are to get him off their books or if they're going to hold out for a fee.

Just would note that Cory Gibbs has played every minute of every game for his team here in the States this season. At 30, he is finally completely healthy, but the injuries have clearly cut into his development as a player.

Jackson said he wanted to come back south for family reasons and made noises that Charlton was a club he would like to play for , if it is true that Fleetwood is off to Exeter , I'm sure Jacko will not be on more than the aledged £4k a week Fleetwood earns. With Shelvey and Spring now gone a left sided mid fielder who can double up as a left back would be perfect for us .

Notts County are even more skint than us and I suspect that Jackos wages will be higher than their average but within our range . Notts only got gates of at most 7k.

I also think Jackson could aid Basey's development as a left sided player .If this is true then finally we may have solved our long standing left sided problem.

Baseys recovery seems to be going ok - he played 18 holes last week in the group behind me so he's fit and walking

    Football Rumours again

    Fleetwood to Hearts on loan

and a couple of Leeds rumours

    Outs;
Kandol – looks like charlton want him, don't think he was given a fair chance at leeds
Grella – Loan league 1 club, dunno where though
Michalik – Could go abroad, chances are he'll go relatively cheaply to one of either QPR, Charlton, Huddersfield or maybe Blades (due to the fact they literally have no defence, but i doubt that will go through)
Sheehan – Swindon..i would literally put my life savings on that
    Somma – Loaned out again
Ankergren – Loads of League 1 interest, most likely he will head back to denmark
Robinson – again i think he's been unlucky, will be a good signing for Tranmere (i would say 80% likely to happen)
Rui Marques – League 1 again i think, don't know where though
White – Loaned to a league one team (cant see it myself, nailed on to be second choice left back next season plus a left mid choice as well)

I think that entire site is 13 year old kids who somehow believe everything that happens whilst they're playing champ manager will magically come to life. The same people who post on forums about TV shows asking why certain characters performed a specific action. The line between fantasy and reality is just as blurred to small children as it ever was - only now they have grown men following what they say and giving it credence :o)

Kandol ? Please God no. Sodje and Kandol up front, can you imagine it. We'd be lucky to escape relegation.
