Ha ha, guess what I was there in my local firefighter status and the cottage in question is a wreck, to quote a silly film "it's in the walls" and also under the stairs.

As a rural station we go to about five serious fires a year but we had two Wednesday, the one in the article and an earlier one near Maidstone, then yesterday a French restaurant in Tenterden caught fire.

The little social deviants gnaw through the weather boarding to set up a nice nest to hibernate inside the floor and wall voids, stealing items of clothing to make it more cosy. Then when they get board they gnaw through the eletrics so their widescreens will have power, so accidently torching their little nests.

It was fun lurking there due to the poor address we were the only pump there for 15 minutes, hard work but the sensation of being in a large fire with only your mate for company is a real adrenaline rush
