City Addicks thanks.....

edited November 2006 in General Charlton
To all of the 70 who attended tonight. Fabulous turnout considering, and a great night.

Special thanks to David White who hosted superbly, and Lennie and Johnny H who were fabulous guests.

All three requested that what is said at the meeting, stays at the meeting, and hopefully that will be respected by all.

Those not there should appreciate that they missed out on absolutely nothing juicy or scandelous, it was cautious on the guests part, just the usual reminiscence yarns.

But it was a great night.

It was a fine evening - and I'm unbelievably chuffed to have met Lennie, and Johnny H was damn good fun. Massive thanks to the City Addicks gang.

And in case anyone's planning anything at The Valley that night, the next one's on 22 February, isn't it?
  • Oh and Smudge you slipped away a tad too early
  • i know, something come up so unfortunately needed to get back quick.

It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening, as usual. John H was a great speaker and a real star. Easy to see why he is such a successful teacher now. Great to see Lennie also, one of the foundations of our recent success. Thanks B for organisisng it and I hope that you'll let me pay for some of the drinks next time!!

I also hope that Mascot88 made it home OK: he was slightly the worse for wear come the end of the evening.
  • Let's hope Mrs Smudge appreciated it ! ;o)
  • Great evening...although feel a little jaded this morning - i s'pose that's what you get for bagging a seat at the bar all night!

    Thanks for organising Curb_It

Nice to meet a few of you guys
  • my head hurts....woke up this morning and convinced myself it was saturday !!!, unfortunately it isn't and I'm now in work...
  • When I won that Watford VIP Johnny H was our host - my hero as well so well excited. And you are right what a lovely bloke and it is great the way he talks about Charlton as "we and us".

  • i'm tucking into one of those triple sandwich things hoping it will put some life back into me

did you boys go onto reflex? i was half tempted!! glad i didn't tho, i feel bad enough as it is.

cheers b for organising, great night.

nice to meet a few new people too!
  • no...we gave Reflex a miss in the end - which is probably a good thing...as i'm going there tonight!
  • Throroughly enjoyable evening.

Good to reminisce. These informal gatherings makes us realise how special our club is.

    Well organised B, thanks.

Head hurting need more pills and sleep.
  • A great night. Like AFKA said i dont think there was anything really juicy relayed. more of talk of yesteryear. i think dave got away lightly once John fired up and started reminiscing later on.

A great night and thanks for the beer donations, yes pete thanks for your generous donation, ill get it back next time! i still had about 8 quid left over which ill roll over for the next kitty.

I put the 22nd Feb in their diary last night... the thursday before the Carling Cup final.
  • I'm glad I didn't go on anywhere else....

god i feel awful, not even a sausage and egg mcmuffin meal has sorted me out. those stools at the bar seemed so right at the time : )

thanks to those concerned for organising a top night with LL and JH (and free pizza as well), although one complaint i have is I put more than 50p in your pint glass curb_it!!!! where was the exotic dance? maybe a blessing in disguise ; )

also eltham, sooz, 1905, mascot, Off It and a few others pointed out to me, good to put faces to names.
  • yes eltham i think that was for the best!
i picked up a curry at midnight... so thats making me feel special now.
  • i ended up bumping into 1905 - empty handed, german paul and the hat at london bridge with their little bags of burger king and 1905 trying to nick all their food. did well considering they got a cab to london bridge, and left about half hour before me and i walked it and beat them :-)

1905> did you get any of his burger in the end?
  • hello guys........

Great night...... first night back in town... I blame the jet lag for being refused enrty to the tube, then talking my way round the security guy, only to go arse over tit on the escalator and then promptly ejected........

got a hand shake with lennie and humphs..... took me all the way back....

    great night......
  • you got ejected from the tube???

  • I know.....

never had it happen before..... I was on the escalator having got in and then this massive bloke showed his ID and said I wasnt safe to be in the tube..... after me and my mate(ipreferalongerstud) persuded him I was he was fine, but as my back was turned it came to the top of the escalatoer I tripped on the top and he said thats it out....

I only had five pints... I think the jet lag and seeing lennie was just all too exciting for me.....

Whats stupid though is we only went round the corner and got another tube....
  • lol!!! hilarious. did you have far to go? i thought you were okay, it must have been the fresh air as you went outside?
  • "1905> did you get any of his burger in the end? "

The Hat did offer me a bite of his burger but with all the saliva hanging off of it I decided to give it a miss.

Cheers for organising the night Brenda. Really enjoyed it - these events seem to get better and better. Just a shame that I am feeling a tad delicate this morning.

Good to put some more Charltonlife faces to names .............. redpete, righthandbackward, and howitzer come to mind.
  • i was feeling a bit better till i read your post. urgh.
  • yes good to meet the new faces. and righthandforward... i come a bit more pricier than 50p!! the cheek.
  • Well done Curbit, one of the best City Addicks we've had in my opinion.

You can tell Lennie used to be a teacher judging by his little lecture at the start :)
  • [cite]Posted By: Curb_It[/cite]righthandforward...

    lefthandforwardwasn't it?
  • "You can tell Lennie used to be a teacher judging by his little lecture at the start :) "

Yes very funny the way he had us all agreeing to be good children.
  • Sounds like you guys had a grat time. Gutted i couldnt be there, perhaps next time i will make the effort and get my arze up there! My trouble is i would need someone to come with me as i no feck all about trains and toobs! And someone to escort me home! I remember when we had a drink in that thamesside pub by Lon bridge, if it wasnt for mortain i wouldnt of got home!
  • Thanks everyone for organising it...... really enjoyed it....
