Anybody kept track of how many away allocations we’ve sold out this season ?

yesterday at Donny, gills and Oxford before that were both sold out if I recall rightly, Wimbledon...any others this season ?
    7 I think.

Luton, Peterborough, Wimbledon, Bristol, Oxford, Gillingham and Doncaster

Great photo ruined by that Welsh flag.
I wonder if that flag is owned by a certain someone from Wrexham?

    Aghem aghem!

Rotherham is only about an hours drive from Lincoln.....plus Lincoln are on a roll and just can’t stop winning.
To be honest, I’m a bit surprised it wasn’t more........mind you, Rotherham is an absolute dump, so some excuse I suppose.

west London to Bristol and from Bristol to Birmingham are probably two relatively quick and easy journeys to make

Bristol Rocers not too shabby for third tier, QPR's average though.

Charlton not too embarrassing but doesn't look great in comparison to Pompey's turnout. Barnsley's a f#*king shithole though - I should know as I was born there (escaped at age of three) and went out with a Barnsley bird for 6 years - so I respect anyone who's willing to tolerate sharing oxygen with the inbred locals for an afternoon.

Great turnout from Bolton in the circumstances.

Rangers are not noted for a big following.

So on your logic, how do you account for a fantastic turnout by Portsmouth for such a mammoth journey.

1st game of the season and we hadn't played them for over 10 years

Cos , as a fanbase overall , we just don’t have a real passion for it like other clubs do.
i just don’t think we’re mad for it as much as other clubs .

of course we have a hardcore like most clubs do but other clubs have more up for it fans than we do .

what I’m trying to say is even though our numbers have improved , they’re still guff compared to other clubs
Lost a generation of support when we were homeless.

That excuse used to apply but it can't now surely?

We went back in 1992. So kids born since then are in their 20s and of the age you'd expect to be travelling to games.

It's just bizarre how we can get 20k home crowds but can't muster 1500 for a northern away league game. The support is there, as we can take 5k to Sheff Utd in the cup on a sunday lunchtime and 3k to Doncaster for the play offs, also on a Sunday lunchtime.
Up till 2 years ago our away support seemed to have a high average age, we did not seem to get so many youngsters.

I cannot comment now as I do not go.

Depends who you're comparing us to though?

I wouldn't ever compare us to clubs like Leeds, Newcastle, Villa, Sheff Weds etc, clubs from one or two club cities, where i guess everyone (or half with Villa/Wednesday) support the same team.

Millwall and QPR are probably a fair comparison though.

Amongst my group of mates although Charlton and Millwall are the best supported there's also Spurs, Arsenal, Man U, West ham, even Everton. If we all supported the same club or 1 of 2 then getting people together for an away day would be easier.

I guess plenty of kids in our area grow up supporting Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea. A kid in Leeds or Newcastle quite likely grows up born and bred Leeds/Newcastle United.

For the most part it’s a self-perpetuating numbers issue that is behind it. If fans think there won’t be many going to the game then it won’t be so attractive for them to go or rush to get tickets for. If fans think there will be good support then also going to the game becomes more attractive. We need to reach a critical mass figure on sales early on when they go on sale and the rest of the allocations will start to sell themselves. The attraction of following Charlton under Bowyer is definitely there both in terms of results and just as importantly the matchday experience in the stands, we just need to get the ticket sales moving a bit quicker. Perhaps a point system for the less attractive long distance games where you get double points if you buy in the first two days of going on sale might be worth looking at. If the club had announced that it had sold 6 or 700 hundred tickets for Blackburn and Barnsley in the first two days I suspect the final figure for the number of fans that eventually went to either game would have been significantly greater than the ones that did go.
